FAQshsk_title_faqs

Who pays you?
The employer pays our fee. Candidates do not pay fees to HSK.

Can a candidate hire you?
No.

Will you do contingency searches?
No, except in the instance where we are conducting multiple searches for a client and opt to add on another without additional up-front charges.

What is your off-limits policy?
We do not recruit out of client companies for a year after the start date of the person hired. However, a more complicated matter is what defines a “client.” One search in a multi-title publishing conglomerate does not necessarily put the entire organization on our “protected list.” This should be discussed directly with HSK.

What is the relationship between Jerry Fields and HSK?
HSK acquired JFA. Jerry Fields is a division of HSK.

How does the process work; when should a candidate expect to hear from you?
Our first priority is to fill the positions we are retained to work on. So, unless we take on a search that fits your background, we may not call you. But you should stay in touch with us by e-mail, letting us know any new developments and reminding us you are still interested in opportunities. With thousands of candidates, it is hard to keep everyone top of mind.

How should a candidate dress for an interview?
We always recommend erring on the side of too formal. When in doubt, wear a suit (male or female).

Should candidates take early jobs off their resumes?
In contrast to some resume services, we do not believe in taking actual jobs off your resume. Early positions can be presented very briefly.

Is an e-mail thank-you note from a candidate acceptable?
It probably is, but a hard copy often has a longer life.
