How To Be Successful at Presenting Your Resume to HSK

  1. Legibility is key.
We recommend 10-12pt. Size in Arial or Times New Roman fonts. Highlight with boldface or Italic and compliment with visual elements (e.g. bullets, indentations)
  2. Do not exceed two pages.
We recommend attaching additional pages highlighting “awards,” “speaking presentations,” “industry appointments,” and “articles authored.”
  3. Write your resume in the present tense for current duties, and in past for prior jobs. Never use the first person “I”.
  4. Make sure you have a chronological listing that includes dates of employment.
Months and years are preferred over years alone.
  5. Emphasize specific achievements, not just responsibilities and skills.
  6. Do not include every detail of every position ever held.
    Sometimes less is more.
  7. It is not necessary to mention personal items, (e.g. spouse, kids and health).
  8. If you are sending your resume via email, attach it as a Microsoft Word document.
  9. Mass mailings are not as effective as targeting your resume to a specific recruiter, do not send it to everyone.
  10. Please provide more than one option to contact you, such as, email address, cell phone number and daytime phone number.
